I don't know who came up with such a late date for starting to collect the iPads for summer, but this is not going to work well, based on our experience trying to collect devices at the end of last school year (when we had a lot fewer devices). We are going to have a very high percentage of devices that are not returned prior to the last day of school. If anyone had asked us who have been on the front lines struggling with these issues for the past year, we would have said to begin much earlier - certainly no later than Monday, May 20. Even that date would be a challenge, especially with high school seniors, students leaving school early, and students not planning to return to MISD next year. Which date do you think would be best for starting to collect the iPads?

Students who have no outstanding charges on TipWeb will be eligible to keep them for summer, but at the high school level, we anticipate collecting hundreds of iPads prior to the end of school.

That date is very unrealistic for the high schools who are tasked with collecting all of the devices from seniors. We really only have kids on campus for two days and two mornings - and they're testing during most of that time. It shows administration as being very out of touch.
