One of the biggest problems with the iPads is that there is no practical way for the students to print. I understand that ideally we want to move to a paperless world but in practicallity I sometimes need hard copy in my hand. Me printing out 160 assiigmnets is not ideal

We will have to look at alternatives for document storage. The students have access to Google Drive through their email accounts. When they work on an assignment through their Google Drive they can publish it to the web and send you a link to their project. This results in a simple way for their work to be evaluated without printing out a copy. Another program that allows for that is the app Educreations. If you absolutely need to have a document printed from your ipad the students will have to use the iCloud function if they used one of the Apple products (pages, keynote, etc.) to print it out from a computer by logging into their iCloud and printing that document (link: www.icloud.com/)An alternative to that is using dropbox or other document storage that is supported.

My biggest challenge with the use of iPads in class this year has been in trying to access the digital version of some Scholastic classroom magazines. These issues could not be viewed on the IPads due to the fact that this function requires flash player. It would help if the distinct provides all the iPad users a free program for flash player.

I sometime take a picture of anything I want to print then connect the iPAD to the desktop I open my computer then select the items I want to print. I show my students the process and tell them to print only the number of copies they need. If they need multiple copies I will just make them in the teacher's lounge. Most students usually go to the library to print their items. Our principal is trying to get HS Transition Teachers an industrial printer connected to a landline in their classroom. That way, we can monitor what the students print, and the quantity of copies. Another option would be to take the whole class to the computer lab each Monday to print out anything they think they need for the rest of the week. This includes but is not limited to their missing assignments, grades, and attendance reports.

Ipad is a great resource but I have found difficulty logging on or losing internet access while in a middle of a lesson plan.

When we need to print we will set up a temporary print network. Using air-print activator on one computer we are able to print directly from the iPad in any classroom.

I know all about drop box a d google drive and other things like that. But it is just plain simpler for me to look at and grade hard copy. Tech is supposed to make it easier but if it is adding steps or time to the process then old fashion is the way to go.

I, for one, won't be doing it this way. I won't be allowing students to print to my printer nor do I believe that it's a good idea. They have no concept of responsibility. Even if air printers were available (and there re work arounds for these anyway)
have them save their own copies!

We have not had any problem with students abusing the printers.
